Here we see the entrance to Guanabara Bay. On the bottom left side we see Morro Cara de Cão (Dog Face Hill) wich holds the São João Fortress. The small island above it is the Laje Isle, wich also has a fort located on it. Together with the Santa Cruz Fortress (upper right side) they formed the principle military complex wich defended Rio de Janeiro. The forts impeded the entrance of many unwanted visitors to the bay. In the background we see the city of Niterói. To the left we see downtown Niterói and to the right we see the buildings that make up the district of Icaraí. On your lower right we see part of the Sugar Loaf forest and the "Guanabara Mitológica" statue.
